Synaesthesia I is the first of a multi-part series that explore the links between cerebral visualisations and non-visual stimuli. In Synaesthesia I, I am exploring the colours that come to mind with certain scents. These prototypes have been infused with the raw ingredients of a scent (for example, resin or essential oil) and then mixed with pigments and clay. The representation of the colour of the scent without its associated plant - the colour of the fragrance as an entity unto itself.

Synaesthesia Series I

This is a series of prototypes that link scent to colour. Each of the pieces has been infused with the raw ingredients of certain scents (such as resin or essential oil) and then pigment added to convey the scent visually. The interpretations are based on the colour that comes to mind as I smell the scent, without conceptualising the plant that it came from, and instead portraying the scent as a character and entity unto itself.
